We checked our email today to find 2 dope tracks waiting for us to listen to. They come from an artist who goes by Foci. So here we are giving you a taste of what he sent us. Also attached to the email, was a brief Bio about himself, so give the song a listen and read up on who Foci is.

About Foci:

The former front man of the award winning, LA County Hip-Hop group, Ground Common, FOCI (pronounced fō’sī’), has decided to take his future into his own hands, representing his own ideals, in which he strongly believes.

Foci has opened for numerous respected Hip Hop artists including Rakim, Pete Rock, The Beatnuts, Large Professor, Rhymefest, Ras Kass, Slaughterhouse (Royce da 5′9″, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I), Chino XL, Brother J (X Clan), Bishop Lamont, Funkdoobiest, Guilty Simpson, Strong Arm Steady,  Percee P, Existereo, R.A. the Rugged Man, Black Knights, Northstar, and many more.

It takes a unique type of individual to dedicate their entire existence to exposing their life experiences to entertain, but more importantly to educate, the masses. Such education can take shape in various forms: music, leadership, mentoring, and academics. In the case of FOCI, he combines it all.

It was the year 2005 that disguised itself as a significant turning point in the life of FOCI, marked by a tumultuous tenure in the music business, a turbulent private life with the deaths of close friends and associates, and the unexpected loss of employment. It seemed only natural that FOCI would combine all of which he could offer into something that would provide real results and real changes within his own life and those close to him. After earning four state credentials to teach courses in Arts Media & Entertainment, Marketing Sales & Services, Finance & Business, and Information Technology, he hit the classroom to teach grades seven through twelve and to fully practice all of which he had preached.  It is no coincidence that FOCI has chosen a path that revolves around very little financial gain but instead centers itself around the true love of the craft of his music as well as his classroom. The definition of focus is “a central point, of attraction, attention, or activity.” With all that he does, he truly represents the plurality of the word: FOCI.

Aside from educating the youth in the classroom, FOCI is currently working on his official solo debut, heavily produced by Diverse (Aftermath/Diocese) with contributions from J Listed (Seven Day), Abstrakt Soundz (Custom Made, Element), himself, and others, in addition to that he is also building up his talent agency theJTCollective, providing opportunities for other artists such as, OPHELIA, SEVEN DAY, and his former student VERSIS.

You can catch him performing his material live with his DJ, DJ Gemini (K-Solo, Bishop Lamont), on stage throughout the West Coast and abroad, bringing back that DJ/Emcee vibe that has been missing for quite some time.
