Endangerment of The Cool Interviews Michael Who.

So whats up Michael Who?
Nothing, relaxing watching tv. What’s up with you?
Cool. Ahh everythings good man.
Thats good to hear.

Can you give the people a brief description of yourself?
I’m about life, happyness, music, love and expression.

So where you from?
I live in Rancho Cucamunga California. But I was raised in orange county, and born in Los Angelos. My hearts in LA though.
Thats Wassup.

What or who inspires you to make music?
It varies from day to day. Some days ill hear something or some days its my emotions. A lot of times I’ll hear a sample that I just can’t pass up.
Cool.

In your lyrics do you try to deliver a message?
I try evoke emotions and feelings. Try and get people to feel what I feel. cus’ I find it hard to do that with regular dialogue.
So true. We’ve noticed that you produce beats as well.

What do you label your music as?

Yeah, uh I try to stay away from labels. So If I had to label it. I’d call it beyond category.
Totally understandable, labels tend to be a jail cell for music.

Exactly.

So how did you come up with Michael Who as a name?
But my name is basically from high school. I had a really popular sister, and when she graduated. I was a nobody, so if I did something people would be like “you hear what michael did” and they’d be like “michaelwho?” Haha that’s basically it.
Haha, I feel you.

When did you realize that music was for you?
It probably was this summer. When I actually got a response from people to my music. Before I’d make beats and stuff but it was real whack and something I wasn’t. Now my music is 100 percent me and I love that.
Well you got talent my man, We Can Dream was very well put together.

So tell us about the track “We Can Dream”?
Thank you so much for that. It’s basically just a feel good uplifting song. I did the beat, and my friend Evan also known as Evan Holt rapped on it. Its one of the songs on the upcoming ep we have in the works. He killed his verses huh?
The verses were Murdered my friend.lol
I agree haha.

How long does it take for you to Create a beat?
It usually takes like 20-30 minutes top to make a beat. But the longest it’s taken me, was like a week.

So how do you want people to interpret your music?
They can take however they please. As long as they listen and have an honest opinion I’m happy. Just take it easy on me haha

What word best describes you and your music?
Good question… Very hard question at that lol. Michael. That’s the word. Cus’ my music is me.
Good Answer haha

EOTC Interviews Ace da Vinci

EOTC: What’s good with you Ace?
Ace Da Vinci: Everything, right now my dude. Currently e-mailing a few blogs that wanted to feature one of my songs & working on this beat. & yourself?
EOTC: Just steady working to get EOTC on the map.

EOTC: Let the people out there know a little bit about you, name, where you from, what you do, you know.
Ace Da Vinci: Well, I’m a part-time producer/full-time mc hailing from Chitown. I’m like you, trying to get SmartMouf Ent., my label, on the map. So I know how the hustle is.

EOTC: When did you first stumble upon your love for music?
Ace Da Vinci: I grew up in an eclectic household. My dad listened to Cameo, Marvin Gaye, Peter Gabriel & the Red Hot Chili Peppers all in one night. & my mom would blast Nirvana, Tool, U2 & Lauryn Hill in my other ear lol. I had to find Hip-Hop myself.

EOTC: What influenced you to start rapping?
Ace Da Vinci: I had a crush on my 3rd grade teacher lol. & she majored in English so I wanted to impress her by writing HELLA poems. I guess the more she gassed my head up when I showed her “Ur so Pretty part 8” pretty much sealed the deal.

EOTC: When did you realize that this was definitely something you wanted to do?
Ace Da Vinci: Well, the first song I ever recorded was this joint called “Just Listen”. I was 15 when I wrote it & 16 when I recorded it, so I sound like I don’t know what the hell I’m doing, right? Well, I remember getting a Myspace message from this chick I barely knew tellin’ me how that song “cured her writer’s block” & inspired her again. I think the moment I saw my words had a positive impact on people is when I decided to pursue this music joint head on.

EOTC: Did you ever get any hassle for doing this, in pursuing this, rather than hunting for a normal 9-5?
Ace Da Vinci: Well, I get the “Oh, you rap too? Surprise surprise.” vibe from people who first meet me. They usually give in once they hear some of my material though lol. I strongly believe in the music speaking for itself.

EOTC: What does music mean to you?
Ace Da Vinci: Music is life, no cliche intended. You gotta think about how alive music is- it captures the artist’s thoughts & emotions forever. It can’t be unheard, unfelt. Every word is a testament. There are songs out there that will withstand the tides of time way beyond this interview, & thats beautiful to me. When I’m long gone, my voice can still be felt centuries from now.

EOTC: Everyone has their own views on the current state of hip-hop and the direction its going. What are your views on that?
Ace Da Vinci: Hip-Hop is becoming worldly. She’s bouncin from location to location, taking something from everywhere She lays Her head at. Each coast, region, & geographical location brings something new to the table, & if Hip-Hop is really the “culture” & “way of life” everyone says She is, then they need to accept the fact that everybody is bringing their OWN sense of style & culture into the genre. Thats what its all about.

EOTC: What is the creation process like for you? What is the most stressing part of this passion?
Ace Da Vinci: I guess its getting it off on the right foot. For example, producing can be a bitch if you don’t “feel” everything while making it. People don’t understand that every single sound you hear in a beat is there to appeal. The wrong “snare” could ruin an otherwise perfect beat. So trying to find the right sounds that mesh well is rather strenous, for me.

EOTC: On average how long does is take to drop a track/full project?
Ace Da Vinci: A track is a few days. A project can take over a month. I usually get the groundwork done within a week.

EOTC: Who are some current artists in the game that you would love to work with?
Ace Da Vinci: Eminem, Lupe, Kanye, anyone out the Rhymesayers camp, Madlib… I think a joint with alternative bands like The Used & AFI would be dope.

EOTC: What do you like to do in your free time other than making music?
Ace Da Vinci: I’m either working, smoking, writing, vibing, recording, performing or playing video games. I read here & there, too lol.

EOTC: Last but not least, do you have any shout outs?
Ace Da Vinci: Its all love & respect to EOTC for this interview, primarily. Boom/Pusha/Lady, AJ, Jay Adams, all my fans & supporters. Be sure to grab The TumblTape if you haven’t, already. People are already demanding a Part 2 so be on the lookout for that. Ace da Vinci is only gettin’ started, world. SmartMouf!

EOTC Interviews Stelo!

EOTC Interviews Stelo! Stelo is a young Artist of the Miami Area.

Photobucket

EOTC: Whats good Stelo! Tell the people who you are what you do.

Stelo: What’s going on people, Im Stelo, Im 17 yrs old, Im an Artist, Painting, Drawing, Poet, almost the whole 9 lol

EOTC: Haha thats wassup. Where you from?

Stelo: Miami, Fl. Born and raised.

Photobucket

EOTC: When did you start on your artistic path? You know, when did you find your passion for art.

Stelo: Well I was always drawing since I was young, My father did it, so I guess I got it from him, But I really got on the grind in high school, got inspired by a lot of different people and whatnot.

EOTC:What does art mean to you? what do you think art can do, or has done for people

Stelo: Well Art to me is just inner emotions and feelings coming out, some people take it as competition, and some people take it as some sort of relief, or like relieving hobbie. I feel Art could open alot of doors, and its done alot for different people, if you look now, Art is playing big roles everywhere, different states and countries, Art is basically life in my opinion.

EOTC: What type of style would you label you art as? if there is a certain style you go by.

Stelo: Honestly, I been like trying to learn or just do different styles, but I would have to say, Abstract would have to be my style, I mostly just create what I think, I try not to bite, I don’t try and look and copy, I mean if there is something I see and its like rare and grime looking, I would be like dang I wish I had that style, but if you look, no one has like the same style, no one cant draw or sketch exactly how the other person did, so I just say abstract, but I am familiar with others, But I try and keep it natural if you know what I mean… But I do get inspired by alot of different artist that keeps different ideas flowing..

Photobucket

EOTC: Ok thats wassup. What are your favorite tools to use use when you creating a masterpiece?

Stelo: Ink pens!Preferably black ink pens, you know those jelly ones lol

But I gotta start back using those brushes you know..

EOTC: Word. What would you say to other teens your age that want to start doing Art(Painting, Drawing, ect)?

Stelo: Art is never bad, its just different. Don’t get discourage, take criticism like a soldier, and you’ll be fine.

EOTC: Good Answer! How do you take Destructive Criticism?

Stelo: I say, oh, (shrugs), I like it. Nah but.

If there doing it to help you, just take it into consideration, be thankful they told you, and just keep doing your thing… But if they do it to be an asshole, just be one back lol

EOTC: Right Right.lol It just makes you stronger.

Stelo: Yes sir.

Photobucket

EOTC: Who are some of your favorite artists?

Stelo: TEEBS(Brainfeeder), Brett Manning, Ben Horton (RVCA), Ben Tour, Ed Templeton just to name a few….

EOTC: If you could chill with any artist, to see what a day in the life of theres is like who would it be?

Stelo: TEEBS all the way.

Thats the newest artist I’ve been following lol That guy is beast lol

EOTC: Teebs is ill. Skating, Making music, and Art.

Stelo: Just straight Grime.

Photobucket

EOTC: Word. How often do you drawn in a sketchbook? Every artist has a sketchbook.lol

Stelo: Lol, well lately its been straight like poster paper, construction papers, and regular computer papers, but If Im in class I mostly use the sketch book, but since we’ve been on break it has not been opened, I might need a new one soon anyway lol

EOTC: O thats right your still in high school. Any art colleges you looking to apply to after you graduate?

Stelo: Yeah man, Right now Im looking at Ringling college of art and design, which is in Sarasota fl. Thats probably for just 2 years, then I want to transfer to out of state. Its out of NY or Cali.

Photobucket

EOTC: What motivates you to do what you do?

Stelo: Seeing other people thats just like me but the only thing different is that they have their own galleries, or there traveling because of their art or there just getting paid .. I get motivated by just seeing them succeed, which makes me more determined to get where they are, or maybe even further.

EOTC: Is there any place that you would like to travel to and have a show in a gallery?

Stelo: Yeah, Honestly I really would have a exhibition anywhere lol, But If I was already like semi known, I would like to have most of my stuff in New York, Or in some other countries, Like Germany, It really doesn’t matter though, I would  take any place and just grow from there.

Photobucket

EOTC: Is there anything you would like to say to the followers and watchers of EOTC? The floor is yours..

Stelo: Clearing Throat..

It was nice to do this interview for the EOTC peeps, I hope you guys go far.

Two fingers to say peace. And thats that lol

EOTC Interviews Miss Lee

EOTC: Hello there Ms. Lee, how are you? Thank you for taking the time out to have this interview with us.

Miss Lee: No problem, EOTC is a dope website/concept

EOTC:  How about we let the people out there know exactly who you are and what it is you do.
Miss Lee: Well my name is Rebecca, but I generally go by miss.lee  and i’m an independent film maker /video artist trying to make it as an artist hehe

EOTC:   Where do you currently reside?
Miss Lee: Well right now i live in the ‘burbs of south florida, but I attend school in miami so i’m downtown most of the time. I’m a student at NWSA (New World School of the Arts) tiny ass college located downtown miami, but i love it.

EOTC:   When did you realize you were interested in Film-Making?
Miss Lee: well i’ve always had a love for old movies, more-so for the screen writing but i never really took that anywhere. after i entered college though I had this crazy intense class that required us to basically pull from everywhere to make contemporary artwork and for my finally i really wanted to do a piece about sexism in music and the best way to do it was via video. after i did that first piece i was hooked.

EOTC:   So when you realized that film making interested you, what gave you that initial push to go forward and pursue film making?
Miss Lee: I started school as a graphic design major and was hating it, so when I realized I was interested in film i jumped ship basically haha. I just didnt see the point in spending foue years in school unless i was going to be doing something i loved

EOTC:   When you realized that you wanted to be a film maker, did it make you watch movies differently?

Miss Lee: Sort of, at the time I switched my major I didn’t really watch too many contemporary films, I was watching older films so i had to education myself on the movies out now and just look at how production differed today I’ve always had a sharp eye so I notice when things aren’t correct “decade” wise in a film

EOTC:  Like what do you look for now in a movie?
Miss Lee: Like what do you classify as a good movie? Anything that has good cinematography, a well written script and amazing colors. I’m a big fan of films that either have muted tones or really rich color

EOTC:   What is your favorite movie in your current state of mind?
Miss Lee: Wow thats a tough one, because I have favorites for each possible subcategory. hmm I guess my favorite cinematography wise (recent) would have to be slumdog millionaire BUT as far as script goes Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind does it for me, that movie is full of so many quotables. I have so many favorites its hard to choose.  It’s a hard thing because movies can have such a special place in your heart and certain ones can touch you in specific ways.

EOTC:  For those who don’t know, what is the film making process like?
Miss Lee: Like what steps need to be taken before and after the project is finished? Hard lol. the process involves a lot of pre-productions (finding actors, writing the script, securing locations..etc) then there’s the whole actually filming part then the post production which includes editing all the footage. Editing is actually my favorite part, matching up different sections so everything become cohesive.
EOTC: We thought that would be the worst part.
Miss Lee: maybe for some, but it’s the part I enjoy the most.

EOTC:  What is the most stressing aspect of film making?

Miss Lee: For me, because sometimes I find it difficult to work with people, relying and finding actors. there is no movie without them, so when they bail or don’t show its really frustrating. i hate having my art depend so much on others. but its teaching me how to relax i guess lol

EOTC:  When you have an idea for a film, what gives you inspiration as to which way to approach it?
Miss Lee: For the most part, I usually visualize the film before I even completely know what it’s about. I’ll see certain scenes in my head and base the film around that one visual atheistic. I do a lot of research too if i’m not sure how to approach a certain idea. theres nothing that hasnt already been done, so i like to look at films that have already done what im trying to do and learn from that, see what works about their rendition and what didnt work and how am i going to make my version better.

EOTC:   Are there any particular strategies of film making that you like to use a lot in your films?
Miss Lee: Well i havent made too many films as of yet, 4 films to date as of right now. two narrative and two documentaries. sadly i don’t have too much of a strategy. i do a ton of writing though, jotting down ideas and making insane amounts of lists. organization is a big deal for me. so i just try to keep everything organized on paper at least, so my mind is free to be creative

EOTC:   Where do you see your films taking you, or where do you want to take your films?
Miss Lee: I definitely am interested in doing a ton of documentaries, i love the social aspect of them and how they allow me to talk about serious subjects. I don’t know if i want to become a major hollywood director, i just want to produce quality work that people can enjoy and relate to

EOTC:   Are there any projects you are currently working on?
(if so, give us some info on that)
Miss Lee: Right now KC (Brain Food) and I are in pre production for a documentary project that starts filming in July called “We Blog For Love” about how technology has made people more accessible but not to the point that we’re people are really sharing their stories. The goal is to travel around the United States filming people and their stories. We’re starting with different ones from tumblr, because thats how the idea originated. I started to follow and read a lot of these blogs and I realized how interesting everyone was and how much knowledge they had to share, and I felt it was a shame that all this knowledge wasn’t getting spread

EOTC:  Besides film-making, what do you like to do in your free time?
Miss Lee: I don’t have too much free time, but when I do have some i like to watch movies and read

EOTC:  What is a normal day like for you?
Miss Lee: A normal day for me usually involves working at my retail job then heading down to miami for school in the afternoon where i usually stay until 10pm every night not much time for anything else.

EOTC:  Last but not least, do you have any shout outs?
Miss Lee: I don’t think I’d could name everyone I wanted to, but I just wanted to say I appreciate all the wonderful people I’ve met on tumblr, like you, marz, KC and others who are supporting me in what i’m trying to do. But I’d definitely encourage everyone to check out www.weblogforlove.tumblr.com for the project im working on just to see what its about or if they’re interested in participating in it.

Miss Lee wanted to share one of her short films with the readers. It is entitled “Day in The Life: Razors” A very good film, check it out.

The Nod- By Abjo

Big Shout out to Abjo for giving us the green light on this track.

a4b|EOTC|Midnight Kids

(Tre & Marz)

EOTC Interviews Abjo.

EOTC: So what’s going on Abjo?

Abjo: Nothin’ much, just goin’ to school, makin’ beats, burnin’ trees…the usual

EOTC: Where so you hail from?

Abjo: San Diego, CA, affectionately called “Daygo” where I live...

EOTC: nice, is it as beautiful as people say?

Abjo: from other people’s POV, yeah, it’s the best place in the world. me personally, it’s just home, and home has always been what it is: raw, real, and in your face.

EOTC: How about you tell the people out there a little bit about who you are, and what it is you do.

Abjo: Indeed. Well, as I’ve been sayin’ lately, hip hop is my heart, soul music is my soul, the two combined make me whole… but on the reals, I’m just your every day SD cat…you know. love to smoke, love to chill, love to act like a fool in public… I’m an artist, though, and I make art, as far as who I am and what I do. Music, sound is my paint and brush, dig?

EOTC: When did you start your venture in beat making?

Abjo: toward the end of my high school career.  I always wanted to, and at that time, I had been almost 7 years deep playin’, reading and writing music, so I felt at that time, I had the wherewithall, I loved it too much not to start doin’ it there’s always a time and place… that was it.

EOTC: Was there an inspirational push that sparked your interest to start?

Abjo: yeah, I had recently decided to dig deeper into the whole Detroit scene, who by the way, I think is where the best shit in the world comes from… other than from this side of the country, haha and of course, Dilla caught my ear, and I got to him just a year before he passed, so I can say I was hyped about him before the hype, you know? even before, the whole Stones Throw crew had my attention, and so everything was just build up for me until Dil Withers passed…that initially was the spark; I just felt a generation, an era had passed, and now it there was space for me to put my mark, I guess…a year later, I graduated high school and I had my first beat tape…the rest is history.

EOTC: that’s wassup. a great inspirational media Dilla is.

Abjo: yeah, and it’s funny, because I hate the hype about him, or rather, I highly dislike it, the whole “everyone is coppin’ his style thing” deal…but he’s a link, just like Pete and Premier are I needed him just like everyone else did to complete their sound, their study into their sound, like one has to study Bach or Brahms, right?

EOTC: Exactly

Abjo: I live in music, the whole world of it. You can’t really escape inspiration…Passing the torch has to happen, no matter how sticky and controversial it is. Dilla knew that.

EOTC: Did you venture into this alone, or did someone also share the same passion as you?

Abjo: It was all me. I take advice here and there, but I think some of the best, or really, some of the most “out there” and inspirational artists in history have always had to make their own mark, as the saying goes, move to the beat of a different drummer…I don’t rely on Dilla or Madlib, or I don’t always rely at all on others’ preferences and ideas, for ego purposes or otherwise…but I do consider and pick apart their modus operandi, for my own sake…I make music for me and my sanity, and it just so happens that part of that has to do with makin’ people nod their heads…

EOTC: So what was your first beatmaking experience like? How was the finished product?

Abjo: Oh, man…compared to right now, I guess it was like…the beginnings of hip hop…if I’m not bein’ too facetious, haha everything was about the “bump” so to speak, and unfortunately, it was tainted by popular music and ish, so it’s a convoluted listen…though, I’ve heard associates and relatives say it was ill…I grew into my music from there, but that first album was somethin’ else…I won’t get into details, it was great still, but it’s crazy to listen to, even right now. went by a different name and everything, ahahaha somethin’ ridiculous, it was all over the place.

yeah, I was really just tryin’ the waters out, you know? barely any sampling, I let my music talent do the work, most of it was synthesized work resembling either Kanye or later day Outkast, or even like some back in the day Common, or Mary J. Blige…I finally caught up as of late, but back then, I really went back in time…like I said, somethin’ ridiculous.

EOTC: On average, how long does it take for you to drop a track?

Abjo: I’m still workin’ on shit from months ago, but there’s stuff that I made, some of my greater works, that I made in less than 45 minutes…there’s masterpieces, and then there’s “donuts”…I have enough of both.

EOTC: What was the hardest project you have ever worked on.

Abjo: Hmmm…..I’d have to say this Midnight Kids album that I’ve been workin’ on…I’m actually workin’ on a follow up suite to it right now that’s killin’ me, but that joint had the most work put into it.

EOTC: Do you collab with any other beatmakers? Are there any you would like to?

Abjo: you know, there are beatmakers in SD, but all the ones I’ve met aren’t as into it as I am…As far as like, brand name producers, Madlib is on the top of the list…Pharrell sounds dope, I love 14KT’s work from Detroit, Mayer Hawthorne (Andrew Cohen, I believe) is another, and the whole Brainfeeder/Alpha Pup crew…Flying Lotus and them, you know.

EOTC: If you were not doing this music thing, what are some of your other aspirations, or what do you think you would be doing?

Abjo: Photography, for sure…that’s my second love…

EOTC: Have you ever been criticized for what you do, in opposed to having a regular 9-5?

Abjo: All the time. I’m a smart kid, so people say…and though I’ve been “blessed” with talent, a knack for a bunch of different things, I don’t feel the need to be about the safety of a secure job…if I have the talent, I won’t need to worry about whether or not I’ma get the paper…I don’t need much anyway, and I definitely don’t need the suit or sharp threads that come with them, or even the nice home to live in…I need music….and sex and weed and good times, but I need music. that’s what keeps a roof over my proverbial head. and the real one, so I hope.

EOTC: Are you signed to any label, affiliated with anyone?

Abjo: Kowloon City. 93, the Midnight Kids collective Shout out to Killboy, haha

EOTC: Last but not least, do you have any shout outs?

Abjo: Big outs to my man Bobby Lite, Chris Young the Rapper, my significant other Camesha, my District 4 peeps, and any and everyone who loves to put a knot in their neck to some good music everyday…

That was our Interview. We would like to personally like to thank Abjo for taking the time out for hanging out with us and do this interview. You can find him at the following links.

Endangerment of The Cool Interviews Chels.

EOTC Interviews Chels.

EOTC: So whats good Chels? Thanks for taking the time to do a interview with EOTC.

Wat up wat up! You’re very welcome.

EOTC: Can you give the people brief description of yourself?

Well, I’m 17. Born and raised in New Orleans. I’m a young writer. I plan to start making beats sooner or later. I Love Hip Hop. Live Hip Hop. Study Hip Hop. Hip Hop is pretty much my life.

EOTC: When did you start rapping?

3rd grade. I was 9 years old. I actually remember writing my first song in class. One of my friends was watching me do it. I think I was explaining the lyrics to her as I was writing. I think. It’s been a while.

EOTC: What or who inspires you to make music?

Pretty much everything. Stuff I see, hear, experience. Just yesterday I was sitting outside and I watched the sky go from really cloudy to really sunny in a matter of minutes. That right there was just like ‘whoa’ to me. A rush of inspiration came over me. And sometimes I don’t have to be inspired at all. Just get up and do it. Everything comes naturally when you let it come from your heart. You don’t necessarily have to be inspired.

EOTC: When you are getting ready to write new lyrics, or lay down a track, What goes through your mind?

Nothing, really. I don’t even be in my mind sometimes. It’s kind of like I be off somewhere else. I don’t know. It’s a bit hard to explain. Like, I drift off to this euphoric state where everything is just chill. There’s no worries about tomorrow or regrets of yesterday. It’s a ‘in the now’ type thing. It’s pretty amazing.

EOTC: In your lyrics do you try to deliver a message?

Of course. I think even if I don’t try to, there’s always going to be a little hidden message in there somewhere. I mean, I want to have an impact on people. I want to reach them. Plus, I have to stay true to myself and making stuff just because it ‘sounds good’ just isn’t me. That’s not my thing

EOTC: How long does it take you to drop a track. on average?

It really depends. It’s really all about having patience with yourself. Once you get frustrated with it, all the wrong energy invades you. I’ll say 30-45 minutes. Maybe. Probably longer than that. I like to make sure that everything is how I want it to sound.

EOTC: What is one of your personal favorite tracks that you have done so far?

The most recent one I did! ‘Almost There.’ The one with 0. I’m really proud of that one. Everytime I hear that song I get happy. It’s full of love.

EOTC: What is like to be a female Emcee?

It feels regular. I love to rap. When I write I don’t think like ‘Ohhhh. I can’t mess up. I’m a girl and I rap. And since I’m a girl and I rap, I have to make sure they like me.’ I just do it. It’s just natural. I don’t feel no type of pressure just because I’m a female emcee. I don’t get wrapped up in what people think. This is how I express myself. And I just happened to be a girl. I look at it like we’re all one. Female emcee. Male emcee. At the end of the day, you’re an emcee.

EOTC: What do you label your music as?

Soul. Hip Hop. Experimental. I really don’t like to label my music. I hate the feeling of putting stuff in a box because it’s so much more. I try to master the art of versatility.

EOTC: Do you have any current projects that you are working on?

Yes. Until We Meet Again which my EP that’s produced by Katrah Quey and G Mo. Coming soon. And also I’m doing an EP with 0. And more stuff which will be announced later.

EOTC: What are your views on hip hop? It has changed alot.lol

Yes, it has. It has to. It allows you to appreciate.  Honestly, I really don’t know too much about mainstream stuff because I don’t keep up with it. I think a lot of the wrong is caused by the people in those tall buildings who run the labels and stuff. Hip Hop is in the hearts of those who remain true to it. I believe Hip Hop has to go through it’s phases. When you think about it, Hip Hop isn’t all that old. We determine where it goes. We are Hip Hop. This is us!  Take control.

EOTC: Is there a certain crowd that you want your music to appeal to?

Everybody. No matter what you look like, what you listen to. I want to appeal to people, period.

EOTC: Is there anything else you do besides making music?

I absolutely love taking pictures. I think that’s slowly turing into one of my passions. I read a lot, collect magazines, learning the guitar, rollerblade. Hopefully I’ll figure out some other way to express myself soon.

Oh! I forgot! I would like to work with Cazeaux O.S.L.O also. I just wanted to throw that out there. I think he’s great.

EOTC: Is there any body that you would like to collab with?

Lupe Fiasco. Blu. The Mighty Mos Def. The Marleys. Jean Grae. MF Doom. Typical Cats. Madlib. Sa-Ra. Just to name a few. Some cool creators.

EOTC: So what’s a day to day life for Chels

Connecting with people, smiling, struggling, breathing, creating, and just enjoying life. Simple. It is what it is.

EOTC: One word to describe yourself?
